LUSENGA PLAIN & MWERU WANTIPA

These two parks are in northern Zambia.  Being completely off the beaten track for many years the people have encroached and much of the wildlife has gone.

In around 2015, the Minister of Tourism called for part of Mweru Wantipa to be de-gazetted to allow for human habitation.  The park is on Lake Mweru so the people were going there to fish.  I do not know if this ever happened.

Lusenga Plain is, as the name suggests, a plain, measuring 7km x 5km in the south-west of the park.  The rest is woodland with the Kalungwishi River forming the border on the eastern side.

Both Lusenga and Mweru Wantipa are Important Bird Areas
